DIY: Boho Decor In 5 Simple Steps

My sister-in-law loves the boho vibe so I decided to make her some wall decor for her office. These little beauties are super easy to make!

Let’s jump right in!

Materials

Round Boho placemat (usually made out of fibrous materials like jute)

  • Strong scissors (ones that can cut through thick material)

  • Yarn (choose as many colors as you want)

  • Hot glue gun with hot glue sticks

  • Picture hanging hardware (optional)

Step 1

Cut your placemat in half-as best as you can.

Step 2

Pre-cut yarn. I cut mine around 2 feet. It’s better to cut the strips longer so don’t go less than 2 feet.

Step 3

Once the yarn is all cut, bundle 6 strands together and tie them off with one of the bundled strands or an extra strand. Do this to all your yarn until you have enough to cover the span of the placemat.

Step 4

Hot glue the bundles to the placemat. You can choose to glue them along the straight edge that you cut-like I did, or you can glue them to the curved edge.

*Please be aware that if you choose to glue along the curved edge your bundles may not be long enough to create the design you envisioned.*

Step 5

To get the yarn to have a curved shape at the bottom use a curved edge the same size as the placemat-I used the placemat itself. Cut the yarn along the edge. Trim up any pieces that look out of place.

AND DONE!

*Optional Step 6*

Hot glue a picture hanging bracket on the backside of the placemat-the side you hot glued the yarn to.

This will allow for easy hanging!
