What To Do With Area Rugs

*Bedroom Edition

How many of you wake up in the morning and step onto a cold hard floor, wishing you had something soft and cozy to step onto instead?

How many of you do have something soft and cozy to step onto in the morning but are looking to create a more aesthetically pleasing look?

Area rugs are one of my favorite decor pieces! It’s like artwork for your floor! And just like with any other piece of artwork, area rugs must be chosen carefully; even in the bedroom.

In this post, I will guide you in choosing the best rug for your bedroom space.

Size Matters

You want your rug to be proportionate to the size of your space. Too small and it will seem out of place on your floor; too big and you could change the overall feel of the space.

You want your rug to stick out from under the bed by about 24-30 inches.

You can also have 2 separate rugs on either side of the bed.

Your rug can either be big enough to include your nightstand or not.

Style Is Important

If you want your dark furniture to stand out, get a lighter color rug. If you want your light furniture to stand out, get a darker color rug.

It is important to feel the rug before purchasing one. You will be touching it every day with your bare skin. You are not going to want something that feels like sandpaper; you're going to want something that soft and welcoming-think of warm toes in the sand or snuggling up with your favorite blanket.
