5 Tips For Decorating With Red, White, and Blue

There is nothing I love more than decorating for a holiday. I always get super excited when I see store shelves lined with the season's holiday decor. I just wish I could buy it all and REALLY deck out my home for the holiday. Don’t we all?

If you’re like me, then chances are pretty good that you love a good deal, especially on items that can be used more than once. This holds true for me when it comes to decorating my home. I love the holidays and decorating for them; I greatly enjoy saving money and time when I have decor items that can be used multiple times for different holidays or occasions.

To be honest, I feel that decorating with these three colors (red, white, and blue) rests on a fine line of blending in with the rest of the decor and being obvious that it’s out for a patriotic holiday. That being said, if you do it right you can land somewhere close to or exactly on that line.

This is what I want to help you achieve today!

I’m going to show you a simple and timeless way of decorating with these three colors that you can use to celebrate a patriotic holiday or have as your everyday decor!

Tip #1

Pillows are your friend.

This is probably the best tip because pillows are such a powerful inexpensive way to quickly decorate your space for a season or holiday. Mix and match them. Take them and throw them onto any piece of furniture and VOLIA!

Tip #2

Stock up on fabrics in neutral colors. Whites, tans, greys, and blacks, are perfect fillers. Use them to offset or complement any color including the two in this post.

Tip #3

Use what you already have.

It can get costly, changing out colors, patterns, styles, etc. with every season and holiday. Save yourself time and money and use what you already have. No decoration is cemented to the place you put it, so pick it up, move it around, and see what new arrangements you come up with.

This also goes for fabrics. Blankets, sheets, and even curtains can be used throughout multiple seasons and holidays.

Tip #4

Be patient and what for the sale.

At some point, items go on sale. If you wait or constantly keep your eyes peeled for them then you can score decor items for a season or holiday well in advance and for a fraction of the cost! So don’t be afraid to purchase something out of season.

Tip #5

Lastly; simple is always better. It’s better than the holiday flavor of the year-what stores put out for holiday decor. It’s better than paying more than you need to just to have your space look CLEARLY decorated for the holiday or season.

Remember: you want your guest-and yourself to feel comfortable when they walk into your home. Too much holiday decor will overstimulate their senses and make your space look messy and cluttered instead of tastefully decorated.
