DIY Bookends

How to make your own bookends using items that can be found at the Dollar Tree.

Yay! We love cheap DIY decor!

I came across these simple bookends while scrolling through Pinterest.

It somehow knew I needed bookends and just dropped off these cheap little cutties just for me!

I immediately ran to my nearest Dollar Tree and hunted down the supplies I needed.

I returned home just as fast; super eager to make them!

Now, why not just buy them?

Every store I looked at either had ones that were not my style or were scarily expensive. We’re talking about new pair of shoes expensive!

I just wasn’t willing to pay that much for a problem that two wood blocks could fix-or proper book stacking.

Besides, Pinterest had dropped these in my lap. I couldn’t say no.

So, now I drop them in your lap!

You’re welcome!

*Metal napkin holder

*Any color yarn

That’s it!

How To Make Bookends

Step 1

Determine the color yarn you want to start with.

Unravel a good chunk from the roll. This will make it easier and faster for wrapping.

Step 2

Starting at the bottom, wrap the yarn around the napkin holder.

You can either try wrapping the whole side or you can do what I did which is wrapping only halfway around. My napkin holder afforded me the ability to do this. Not all napkin holders are the same.

Step 3

Keep wrapping until you either run out of yarn or you get to the other side.

If you do run out of yarn just tie a new end of the yarn to the one that’s wrapped.

Get creative! Try different color combinations or patterns.

Step 4

When you get to the end tie off the strand of yarn and tuck it in a place that is hidden.

Step 5

Repeat the whole thing on the other side of the napkin holder!

BOOM! You now have bookends!

Place a book or two into the napkin holder and set it on your shelf, nightstand, coffee table, or wherever!

I love that these were simple, cheap, and required NO hot glue!

Thank you Pinterest Gods!
