DIY Mirror Frame Decorating Ideas
Have you ever come across the perfect mirror with a decorative frame that you’ve been searching everywhere for only to find out that it costs more than a gas tank?
Did you then put the mirror back on the shelf and leave feeling disheartened?
If only it were a more affordable price!
Lucky for you, I know how you can make your own decorative mirror for a much more convenient price!
Come take a look!
Materials
*Mirror (any color you want or whichever is the cheapest)
*Paint (in the color you want your frame to be)
*Paintbrush (if you decide to paint your frame)
*Embellishments (flowers, stickers, backsplash peel n’ stick, etc)
*Hot glue (or industrial glue)
Handmade Mirror Frame Here We Come!
Step 1
Paint the frame.
Be careful to not get any paint on the glass-yes, you can clean it up later, especially if it’s acrylic paint, but it will be less frustrating and less work if you can avoid it. If you’re not sure about your steady hand, put painter’s tape along the edges or put something like a newspaper on the glass.
Another option you have is to spray paint the frame in the color you want. You’ll just again, want to cover the glass before you paint. Spray paint is a bit more tricky to get off.
Step 2
Add your embellishments.
Once the paint has dried, use your hot glue and secure your embellishments to the frame in whichever way you like. If you’re using something that comes with adhesives built into the product then you can disregard the hot glue-unless you want to make it extra secure!
Step 3
Final touches.
This step is for anything extra that you want to add to your frame. This could be something like painting the embellishments or adding a different hanging device.
And There You Have It!
I bet you didn’t think it would be that simple! Well depending on how intricate of a design you’re going for with your mirror frame, I guess it could be a bit more of a challenging project.
If you’re curious to know, when I made my first mirror frame I managed to make it for less than $10! I got the cheapest mirror with a frame, in a medium size from Walmart and I used backsplash stickers from Dollar Tree. I didn’t even need the paint!
Some food for thought I guess is to look at that expensive mirror you want and see if you can recreate the look for less.
